About Us
What makes Hands of Compassion today was birthed years ago from a desire we had to do something about the poverty, injustice and need we saw around us. We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can make a difference in OUR world – in the community in which we live. We hope to inspire and challenge you to do God’s will.
Community living is about discipleship. Up to 120 residents experience life at all levels and learn to accept one another.
We share daily duties and meals, pray, study the Bible and work together; we are on a journey of recovery and restoration whereby we learn to accept one another and aim at conforming to the image of Christ.
Some of us come to serve in a real and practical way, and others, who have been broken and rejected by society, come to be restored.

at easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships
so that you may live deep within your heart.
May God bless you with ANGER
at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people
so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.
May God bless you with TEARS
to shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war
so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.
And may God bless you with enough FOOLISHNESS
to believe that you can make a difference in the world
so that you can do what others claim cannot be done
to bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor.
