Poverty Alleviation
Soup Kitchens
We have over 70 feeding projects located in various disadvantaged areas in Gauteng. These soup kitchens are run by our congregation members and home fellowship group leaders and Hands of Compassion provides assistance with food vouchers. Our soup kitchen coordinator, collects food from various stores e.g. Woolworths, Spar, home industries, and re-distributes it to the various areas.
Food distribution is done weekly to schools, organizations and informal settlements in and around Lanseria, as well as to the sick who visit our clinic. Much of this food is collected from Woolworths. (Thank you Woolworths!)
Hands of Compassion at the Church
A walk-in soup kitchen and bible study are held daily at the Church for people living on the streets. Counseling and assistance is given to anyone in need.
At our Food and Clothing Depot members of our congregation bring in clothing and food for distribution to the poor.
Emergency Rooms are set aside for overnight accommodation at the Church (cnr Hans Schoeman and Rabie Streets, Randpark Ridge, Randburg).
If you have any contacts in the food industry, kindly call our soup kitchen coordinator Reggie Moonsamy at 011-796-4069.
He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honours Him shows mercy on the needy.
